Tax Preparation

Introduction to Examination- IRS has ramped up their Examinations.  We all need a refresher course in preparation for the next audit.  LG Brooks, EA will review the types of examinations and how best to prepare. 

 

A Mock Exam - The TAC planning committee believes that theory is only part of real world training.  The second half of our bootcamp training on examinations will be a mock exam with LG Brooks, EA representing the clients while Regina Hall, Revenue Agent, will be conducting the examination. 

Like Kind Exchanges-

Are you treating those like kind exchanges properly when preparing a return?  Valorie Paugh, EA will walk you through the theory and practical application of the exchange. 

 

This presentation will cover the most overlooked like kind exchange–auto trade-ins – as well as the following types of 1031 exchanges:

 

1.  Immediate

2.  Delayed

3.  Reverse or “Starker”

4.  Related Party Rules

5.  Complex exchanges such as multi-asset exchanges and cost segregation

 

 

The New 10.34 Rules

Beanna Whitlock, EA will present to us  the revised standards with respect to tax returns and documents, affidavits and other papers submitted to the IRS.

What Could Have Been Done To Change the Audit- We have brought a group of professionals to discuss tips and pointers on handling an audit.  Our team of experts includes attorneys, CPAs, enrolled agents and an IRS territory manager over audits.

Debt Forgiveness

Wtih more foreclosures and financial difficulties, our clients are bringing us more and more 1099's indicating debt forgiveness.  Pat Sykes, EA will review the options available for handling this issue.
